I found Third Space in a list of great places to work remotely in Dublin. The cafe is found at a great location in Dublin on a wide pedestrian thoroughfare. It was a nice place to sit down for the morning and get caught up on my todo list. Their menu was solid for all-day-squatting and even had a selection of gluten-free options. The staff did eventually ask me to relocate because more customers kept pouring in, but they offered me a location in the corner instead of kicking me out, being extremely courteous the whole time.

The cafe was busy the entire day - hard to find a good slot to order without a queue. Signboard of thanks and announcements.

The Basics

  • Standard Internet access without a login screen – the password was posted out in the open.
  • Large breakfast menu, lunch, fresh juices, decent coffee. Gluten-free options including good toast
  • Free restroom
  • Windows that bring in natural lighting (when it’s not raining and overcast)
  • Outside seating under an awning
  • Quiet and calm music playing over the speakers
  • A few power outlets scattered around, but not many

The Extras

  • Huge selection of books to read
  • A sign quartering off the social-engagement area from the “let me sit and drink coffee by myself” area
  • Posters and flyers for good community events
Books, more books, and good books! (According to the sign, they self-destruct if taken out of the cafe). Go ahead, make a new friend!

It was nice how they marked off the two areas because it takes the pressure out of guessing if someone is up for a conversation. The staff were really nice and I got the feeling that lots of people gather here to socialize.

The coffee, like the plate for my Irish breakfast, came extremely hot. Unfortunately it was too hot to pick up the cup when I got it, then by the time I had eaten (with the hopes of letting the coffee cool down), the coffee was a bit too cool and had lost some of its taste as a result. Not exactly their fault, but I can’t handle those temperatures as well as veteran drinkers.
